Loose, defective, or overloaded electrical components can be identified with an infrared thermal inspection.  When electrical components fail, they often produce excessive heat and tempuratures which can be viewed in the infrared spectrum.  Likewise, loose components also produce heat as electric current resistance is increased.  This too can easily be seen with an infrared thermal imager.  The benefit of using infrared for these type inspections is the fact that it is non-destructive and requires no physical contact of energized equipment.
